Beacon Academy of Nevada
I was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Madrid, Spain graduating from Madrid High School located on Torrejón Air Force Base. Shortly thereafter I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I attended Arizona State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Upon completion of that degree program, I entered the United States Navy aviation program and was commissioned an officer. I spent 23+ years in the Unites States Navy in various operational jobs as well as staff jobs. While on active duty, I earned a Master of Arts degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California in the area of National Security Affairs, a military version of International Relations. Additionally, I attended the Spanish Naval War College, as an exchange officer with the Spanish Navy, and earned an award for academic achievement. Subsequently, I was the United States Navy representative at the Inter-American Defense College located on Fort McNair in Washington, D.C. After retiring from the United States Navy, I spent almost 10 years in the aerospace industry including a nearly 3 year stint in Córdoba, Argentina working for Lockheed Martin.
Upon leaving the aerospace industry I did consulting for a couple of years and tried retirement for another couple of years but decided I wanted to give something back to this wonderful country and started substitute teaching in the Clark County School District. While working there I started to also teach here at Beacon Academy of Nevada.
I am currently working full time at Beacon Academy of Nevada as a member of the staff and teacher and my goal is to obtain my administrator’s license and continue working in the virtual online high school environment.
Beacon Academy is focused on helping students succeed.
