Mrs. Nestor:
My family and I would like to Thank You and those that were involved with helping to reach my fundraising goal. I am hoping to pass along this message to my fellow classmates who took time out of their day to help wash cars today (Friday, March 23) and to those who made donations to support me in this endeavor.
To my Fellow Classmates: I know that today (Friday, March 23) it was warm out and that you guys may have had things that you wanted to do instead of washing cars. I greatly appreciate you taking time to show your support not only to me but to the other sick kids, teens and their families that are reliant on The Ronald McDonald House for a place to stay while they are out of state getting medical treatment. I hope that you guys realize just how appreciative families like mine are to those that support that house. If it wasn't for those people we would not have a place to stay while we receive our care. I cannot say that I know how you tired you are from washing cars today but I can only hope that you were able to walk away from this today with your heads held high and with pride in yourselves for giving time to help others. I am personally unable to wash cars, or do any manual type of labor for that matter but the fundraising that I do brings me great joy and pride in myself and this is why I continue to challenge myself to raise the most money possible for organizations that take care of me. There is something to be said for the feeling that GIVING BACK brings.
To the teachers and administrators of Beacon: I cannot thank you guys enough for taking time out of your busy schedules to put together and promote this event. There is something very special for teachers and administrators who are willing to give up time to help students succeed. It may not seem like a lot but the support we receive from you guys make more of an impact than we may show. To those that were unable to attend but donated to my cause I want to say Thank You as well.
It is because of all of you that I am currently at $13,400, which means only $1600 to go.
Editor’s Note: Since Katlyn wrote this she has surpassed her goal of $15,000. Every dollar that goes to the Ronald McDonald House supports wonderful people such as Katlyn.
